Meet up at the post office park Newton St at 9:45am to leave at 10:00am. This drive will take us out to Moonford for smoko/toilet stop at the Cania Gorge Recreation area, then head through Kariboe Rd to meet up on the highway for a few Km and turn of at Lawgi Hall to take the back Road through Lawgi to Mt Scoria. 1 of only 3 in the world, Scotland, Sicily and on our doorstep at Thangool this amazing Mountain is made from column shaped volcanic rock that when struck has a musical tone. Mount Scoria has picnic table and toilets . The drive is scenic with some nice views and consists of 39km of gravel road with a few rough sections and is suitable for all vehicles. Heading home will be via the highway. Things to bring: Smoko, lunch, chair, camera and sturdy shoes.
