August 9, 2025 - August 10, 2025

Enjoy a two-day printmaking workshop using printmakers’ paper plates and Tetra Pak plates to create nature-based etchings. Artist Peta Lloyd from Capricornia Printmakers, Rockhampton, will teach the technique over a weekend in Monto. Works will be exhibited at the Monto Museum of Art soon after the event.
MORE DETAILED DESCRIPTION;
The weekend-long “Sense of Place through drypoint printmaking” etching and printmaking workshop will introduce a new art technique to the North Burnett. After an initial grounding exercise in the bushland of Monto Landcare, to gather inspiration for their images, participants will be guided through the techniques of making images and marks by cutting and peeling away the surface of the plate (paper plate* or Tetra Pak**). Textured and smooth tape as well as carborundrum and gel mediums will also be applied to create further lines and textures. Peta will demonstrate techniques of inking up and printing dry point plates using an etching press. Techniques of ***chine colle and ****a la poupee will also be taught to add colour to prints. After the workshop, an exhibition will be held at the Monto Museum of Art.*thin piece of cardboard with one smooth surface.**like dry point paper plate, with a smooth surface that can be peeled back to reveal textured cardboard.***chine colle – two layered paper support which includes thin tissue paper and heavier printmakers paper.****a la poupee – several colours of ink are applied to a single printing plate to create a multi-colour impression in one run through the press.
